They managed not to keep Eric waiting. They met him on the snow covered street.

"See its wet, its not really going to freeze," Kyle acted as if he knew a thing or two about the weather.

Eric just remained soured as he drove them back to the library. He didn't say anything to Amanda even if Kyle went on a bit about Eric and how he was his step-sister's boyfriend.

"That hasn't happened yet." Eric told her about Ellie not being his real step-sister.

"Well, she will be. They're going to courthouse the Monday after Thanksgiving. Its gonna be a done deal." Kyle didn't like Eric's attitude.

Eric just kept his eyes on the slick road. Luckily, he managed his car back to the library. Then Kyle got out and cleaned off Amanda's car. It took them forever to say goodbye. It was as if they'd taken a crash course in lip action, and Kyle found himself needing more of it.

"OK, let her go!" Eric was tired of waiting. "Its not letting up." He meant the snow.

"Kyle, what were you doing with her? Why were you in Old town?" Eric let into him once he was in the car, and they were waiting for her to leave.

"It was nothing."

"Really?" Eric looked at him as if he was a liar.

"She likes me, all right." Kyle shrugged.

"Obviously."

"Its not that serious." Kyle winced. "What is your problem?"

"Calling me at 2 in the morning, is a problem." Eric told him.

"OK, I didn't know who else to call." He'd thought of Cory, but he had no idea where he'd be even on a school night. Doubtfully, not at home.

"Fine." Eric snapped.

"You know you're a pretty good guy, and you know you'd do the right thing," Kyle looked at him.
"What if she's not doing the right thing. She might look all sweet and innocent, Kyle, but what if she's just taking you for a ride?" Eric then said.

"She's not." Kyle wanted to believe that. He had to have some faith in her.
