shivers

Amanda was shivering, her hair was damp. They cuddled in the sleeping bag trying to stay warm. They kept kissing as if they had all the time in the world. All was warm and cozy. It felt like a good sleep to Kyle. Only it was getting colder by the minute. There was no electricity.

Finally Kyle looked behind him out the large window next to them. He looked into the street below. It was snowing.

"Shit," he breathed.

"What?" Amanda edged for a look. "Well, maybe it'll be a snow day tomorrow." She smiled as if maybe she was a little drunk after all.

"That's a nice thought, but you know we never have a snow day this early."

"We could," She was practically sitting in his lap now. "Remember that time the week before Halloween and all the trees came down in that ice storm, and we didn't have school for days be cause of all the power outages."

"I don't think its that bad." Wishful thinking, he thought, getting out his cell. "I'll see if we can get us a ride back to your car." He felt kind of stupid walking all this way now. Hopefully, Eric would come through for him.

"Are you serious," naturally, Eric didn't want to get out in this.

"Its really not that bad. All you have to do is pick us up in Old Town. Its not that far. Really," He was on the phone a bit more with Eric. Finally, Eric told him he'd be on his way. It was a school night.

"Maybe you should let them know you're on your way," Eric then suggested.

"I doubt Dan even cares," Amanda was a bit indifferent about wanting to call home.

"You have to. What about your Mom?"

"I know, I'm the responsible one." She rolled her eyes.

Kyle wrapped his arms around her. They snuggled cheek to cheek.
