cold as ice

A cold wind was coming on. Flashes of lightening started to pop up. It was getting damp out. Kyle put his arm around Amanda as they headed between buildings in the old part of town. It wasn't all that far from the police station. Just an alley or two so away.

Ice bits of rain began to fall and Kyle managed them up to the fire escape to the broken window he usually went in through on the third floor. At least they finally had manage to get out of the cold. There was a sleeping bag and a few blankets on the bare floor.

"So you planned it, didn't you?" She looked around while he lit a candle.

"I did not. I like to come here sometimes, just to get away from everyone. No one has bothered my stuff yet."

"You guys don't get the homeless like we do on our side of town," she sighed.

"Are you cold?" He touched her hands and they were like ice, but she pretended not to be cold.

"When are you acting and not acting with me?" He was a bit perturbed with her. They'd come all this way, and she was just looking at him as if she was afraid to be here.

"I'm not." Amanda kept straight lipped.

"I like you." She took a deep breath as if she had to sell this idea to herself.

"I don't know if I believe you." Kyle just kept staring trying to figure her out.

"Oh, come on." She clench her teeth. "Why would I have, you know, its not like I bring guys to my room everyday," Amanda winced.

"Well, obviously you know something." He shrugged lighting a candle.

"What?"

"Are we going to fight about this?" He smiled.

"I've only touched one other guy's penis and that was at some slide show we had to sit through at the auditorium at school. I thought he liked me. Obviously, he didn't." She hugged herself.

"You probably scared him."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

She didn't say anything for the longest time. Then she smirked. "You didn't look all that scared to me."

Kyle rolled his eyes. He wasn't going to comment on that.

"Well, shall we?" He got out one of the homemade cigarette then. It had made it all the way here in a baggie, and it hadn't gotten wet.

"You don't have a bong?"

"We aren't in your brother's room, are we?" He shrugged.

"OK," she sighed as he lit up and took a hit, he handed it over to her.

"Quit being a wise ass," she blinked then.

Kyle waited then. He had a feeling it wouldn't take long.

Yeap, she choked. Had a horrible coughing spell and handed it right back to him.

"How do you do it, its awful." She looked sick. It was if he could have taken a knife and scrapped her lungs from all the gagging. "That's disgusting."

"Good." He put it out then. "We'll forget you ever wanted any in the first place. Besides, I'd much rather be kissing you than being in a fog, alone."

"What?" She squinted.

"I like you, if you'll let me." His fingers spread across the side of her cheek then. She didn't resist his kiss. Besides they needed each other to keep warm.
