Kyle went back to playing his video game with Cory. He kept staring at the screen as they were both shooting at zombies while listening to old 80's classics.
"What was that about?" Cory asked. "It sounded serious."
"It always is with Eric." Kyle just said being as monotone as possible.
"He never tells me anything, anymore."
"Well, if you weren't stuck on Dylan, he might." Kyle fired back at a zombie about then.
"Dylan?" Cory winced.
"You're still seeing him, aren't you?"
"I guess." Cory was cool about it.
"So is he your boyfriend?" Kyle asked point blank and a zombie got Cory's gun toting dude on the screen. Game over.
"Why do you want to talk about this?" Cory pressed his lips together as if he couldn't say anything else.
"I don't know. If I was a gay dude, I wouldn't want somebody like Dylan because he's all over the place, you know." Kyle shrugged.
"All over the place?"
"Yeah, he gets drunk. He gets high. Goes wild at parties."
"You are all those things, dude." Cory looked at him.
"Well, thanks for comparing me to your homeboy." Kyle rolled his eyes. "I am in a serious relationship now."
"Hooooohoooo," Cory grinned.
"Its serious."
"Please don't go there." Cory just smiled. "Like you need something like that like you need a hole in your head. You are not serious."
"Totally."
"Well, lets see if you get through Christmas."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Kyle crunched on Doritos then.
"I'm just saying, you are in no position to start up something like this during the holidays. You are only fifteen." Cory informed him who went to pour himself a drink of Pepsi at Kyle's computer desk.
"And your point is?"
"Girls like cash. They like presents. Can you give this girl what she needs?"
"I have." Kyle smiled.
"Like what?"
"She wants me bad."
"Don't tell me her name is on your dick." Cory just looked at him as if he better get a life insurance policy now.
"Its not like that." Kyle thought then Cory wanted to know too much. "What about you? You won't tell me shit whats going on with you and whats his name. And I know something is going on. I know. And ..and why should I tell you anything ..when-"
"Just stop." Cory winced. "Its not like that."
"But, you've kissed him, right?"
"Yeah."
"And that's it?"
"Yeah."
"You're being honest with me?" Kyle wanted him to be.
"Its not what you think," Cory just looked at him.
"But you've been with a guy, right?" Kyle had heard Eric talking about it with Ellie and how it freaked him out.
Cory nodded.
"So. What's keeping you from Dylan?" Kyle thought they better get back to the game because he could see Cory was getting more timid by the minute.
"I'm not in love with him." Cory told Kyle.
Kyle just nodded. He got his controller ready. Kyle just smiled. He really didn't know it was like that. Well, when it came to being gay.
thanks for leaving a comment at one of my posts... yeah, my mom is quite ok back there,,,
ReplyDeleteI think it was interesting how Kyle..thought it would be for Cory..maybe he figured something out. Maybe Cory figured something otu from him, too.
ReplyDelete1. I love the new look of the blog, the header - very Christmas-y! - and the title... You see I had left my comment on Lonnie Love before checking here.
ReplyDelete2. Old 80s classics...Like Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams?
3. Kyle does seem more responsible to me than Dylan, after all. Especially after reading 'Most Definitely'.
4. 'Her name is on your dick' - haha. I had to laugh about that.
5. Somehow I've got a distance to Eric, after reading all about Kyle.
Thank you, my exam went ok! I might be getting it back tomorrow... But I don't think so.
Oh..boys...I'm glad Cory & Kyle can be friends.
