nothing better

Kyle thought he'd had enough of his drum set to last him a while.

"You play it awhile," he told Lonnie. As it was, he thought for sure people would start wondering if he kidnapped Lonnie or something. "I have to go somewhere."

"Where?"

"This girl's house." Kyle felt bad that he didn't sound all devotional and emotional over it. It just didn't sound right.

"Somebody random?" Lonnie shrugged.

"No, somebody I've been seeing." Kyle squinted.

"So what's wrong with her?"

"Nothing." Now he sounded out of it. Bitter even. "She's my girlfriend and...I don't think I want to tell you what happened."

"You don't have to, man." Lonnie almost smiled, but then he didn't. "Girlfriends can be scary."

"You got that right."

"I was seeing somebody, " Lonnie then said. "And she was like way ahead of me, you know, and well, I just didn't follow all her rules, I guess. And, uh, she got suicidal, but I guess she might be better now. Its not like anyone is telling anything. Its not like I'm going to hook up with her, again."

"Woo, sounds like some serious shit."

"I hope its not that bad with you, Kyle." Lonnie then nodded.

"No, she just got-" Kyle knew he had to practice saying it. It just didn't sound right on the tip of his tongue. "She's gonna have a baby." He paused a bit, choking on the words. "Our baby."

"Seriously?" Lonnie looked as if he might be in pain from what Kyle had just said.

"Yeah, I just found out. Hadn't told me my Mom. Don't really want to ruin her day."

"Yeah, I guess not."

"So you want to come with?" Kyle grabbed his jacket and scarf. Nick was on his way to pick him up.

"I guess so. Haven't got anything better to do." Lonnie just shrugged putting down the drumsticks.

  3. LOL, I used to draw at the museum too, but people give me weird stares ^^
"I don't think I want to tell you what happened"... It's quite natural, people think that all the time, but only few people say it out loud...
Lonnie has a way of making Kyle spit it out though... Some people are just like that.
I wonder how Amanda will take Lonnie coming around too.
Today I've been singing karaoke for four hours in a row ^^
