or something

The music was already pulsating outside. It was hot and steamy outdoors. It felt as if they were walking into a refrigerator as they went down into the basement of the old building. The music just got louder as it poured over them and vibrated into their senses.

Ellie grabbed Lon's hand as he was putting his other around her shoulder. It was as if they we determined not to lose each other in the jammed packed room.

"Look, you may have to drive home tonight," Lon said in Ellie's ear. He gave her the keys to keep in her purse. "I gotta have a beer or something." She watched him look around at the neon lights spinning above the blue smokey atmosphere. "What do you want?"

She opted for a bottle of water while he showed the bartender at the bar his I.D. and got a bottled beer along with an orange bracelet to wear, tagged that he was twenty-one or older. He handed the bartender a 10 dollar bill. He didn't get any change.

"Dang, that's a little steep." Lon found a stool to sit on then, and he tugged her sit on his lap. They stood still while bodies jumped about to the music like idiots. Naturally, Roger was one of those idiots.

"Are you sure you're having any fun?" Ellie winced. The music was total crap. There was no melody to the riffs tangled in the beat.

"Of course, I am. I'm with you." Lon just smiled and nursed on his beer.
