quite casual

Roger looked at the picture he'd taken of him kissing Olivia on his camera phone. He'd set it on his screen of his laptop as well. For all the world to see a reminder of who they were. He guessed. It made him smile when he saw it. Bigger than life, perhaps. Right before his eyes. Quite possibly his new religion.

"What are you doing?" Olivia had a bowl full of fresh cherries.

"Nothing." He clicked the google screen over their faces. He grinned there at the kitchen table as she popped a cherry in his mouth. It was sweet and tangy, and he couldn't take his eyes off her mouth as she ate.

"Did you need the car today?" He wondered giving her the keys, anyway.

"No." She shook her head. "I wasn't going in today."

"You weren't?" Roger looked serious at her then. "Did you quit?"

"No," she smiled. "I said I was moving."

Roger nodded. "But you're not, right?"

"I'm here, aren't I?" She sighed.

"You scared me." He gasped. "So did your Dad call?"

"You would have heard, if he had, you know." She smirked.

"Everything will be OK, you'll see." He sighed thinking they needed coffee then. He put some toast in the toaster too.

"I'm not holding my breath." Olivia put the bowl of cherries down. "Everything has changed. I don't think they wanted me to grow up. And, well, I can be just as stubborn as they can."

Roger started the coffee maker then and buttered the toast.

"I wish I could stay all day with you, but, but I have to go in for a little while." Roger spoke of the grocery store then. "I don't want to leave you, you know. What if they come and try to take you away."

"I haven't escaped the loony bend," Olivia chuckled as she went to get cups for their coffee. "I'm not expecting a visit, all right."

He brought the toast, and they had breakfast then.
