a bright spot

"You look older than me," Kyle knew Kelsey didn't want to hear that, but it was true.

He was lounging on the grass. She'd brought a huge sandwich from Subway, and they were having a picnic lunch close to where the outdoor theater was where he was working.

"You always will." He looked at her as if she needed to know.

"What? You're saying I don't age well?" She sat there looking at him and bit into a chip then.

Kyle laughed.

"I can't help it if I'm a baby face." He shrugged.

"You are not a baby face." Kelsey winced. "I don't think so."

"I wonder what Rosie is doing right now." Kyle just said as he imagined her doing something special without him.

"Why haven't you called?" Kelsey played with her half of the sandwich then.

"I dunno." He felt quite sad so suddenly. "Maybe I don't want to know. Beside, Amanda never called. Never." His throat tightened then.

"Are you saying this is payback time?" Kelsey smirked.

"No." Kyle sighed. "I'm not." He thought of Eric then. "Its not like that with us." Of course, he was staying with Kelsey at the hotel, but that was because he didn't want her to be alone. And they weren't having sex. Not yet. A few close calls. Some moments of passion that seemed to have brought them closer. Perhaps, it was no different than what Amanda had done with Eric. But he didn't want to believe that. He felt that Kelsey was there as a friend. An old friend who cared about him.

He smiled at Kelsey then. Really, he liked that she was here. It was time he admitted that. It was time he knew things had changed and that it was really over with Amanda now.

  7. Mmm, Subway ;) And I can relate to Kyle haha, people always think I'm way younger than I really am. Despite being 15, I've been mistaken for a seventh grader on more than one occasion...
