sleepless

"I can't believe Kyle actually did this," Ellie said wishing she could sleep, but she wouldn't.

"Why don't you go back to bed," Lon said. I'll be right on the couch. I promise I won't let her go anywhere.

"No, you should sleep." Ellie told him.

"You need to sleep so you'll be ready to drive." Lon reminded her. "Because you know where to go. I don't. Then I'll drive the way back."

She guessed that was the logical thing to do. But Ellie thought of Kyle again. "I just can't believe it. And he's already gone." She shook her head.

"He's not thinking completely straight, but I'm sure he meant well. Maybe he'll get it all sorted out, and he'll be ready to face whatever it might be, he has to face when he gets back." Lon shrugged laying on couch while Rosie slept on the rug with her blanket.

"I guess I'm going to have to get a crib," Ellie decided.

"That's a bit drastic," Lon squinted.

"Well, who knows who might bring their baby by here." Ellie hugged herself. "I just want to be prepared.

"I doubt it happens again." Lon grinned.

Ellie yawned, but she doubted she got any sleep. She'd try. But all she could think about was that she needed all these baby things if there was a baby around. There was actually a very small room upstairs that could be a nursery, but it was the catch all room. She took a look in the room on her way to her room. It was a sunny yellow. She hadn't noticed that before.
