waiting

Heath finally let out a breath once they left. At least they didn't open the closet. He stumbled out in the dark.

He felt bad now that he'd smoked. There was just nothing else to do. He hadn't had a cigarette in days, and he wasn't even a nervous wreck about it. He didn't know why he'd done it in the first place.

He was upset after he'd called home and talked to his sister. Honestly, he'd love to see her. His Mom even his Dad. He wondered what they thought of him now. If his parents missed him. So many old feelings stirred inside him now. How much he missed home. Yet, he did feel at home with Nick. This was really where he wanted to be. Funny, how he wanted this new idea of home to be part of his parent's life too. Maybe he didn't completely understand it, but it was a good feeling he didn't want to hide. Yet here he was still living a secret of some kind. Did it ever end?

He'd been tempted to call Wyona, his only true friend, but it was best not to let her know what was up. Andrew had his ways. She'd be sure to tell him everything. After all, she thought he was a saint of some kind.

Heath just shook his head as he laid on the bed in the dark. Could he possibly make it through his last semester of school. Why did one person have to make everything so miserable? So much to think about. He just hoped Nick would let him stay here. He was so close to getting a degree, but was it what he wanted now?

Heath started to cough then. God, he hoped no one heard him.

  1. Sounds as he's got a second chance, maybe even with his family.
