letting it be

"Are you going to let this bug you for the rest of your life?" Kyle looked at Kelsey as if she'd better let it go about Nick and Heath.

"No." She was still in his car in the front of her house. She wasn't ready to leave.

"Promise?"

"Its just," she looked at him miserable. "Is this my fault?"

"No. Its not." He told her.

"Its just, I didn't know it could possibly happen. Him, of all people." She hugged herself.

"He was good to you."

"I guess. I dunno. Why didn't I notice? What's the matter with me?" She gritted biting her thumb nail. "What if every kiss I ever gave him was just disgusting, you know." She made a face.
"Kel, you gotta stop worrying about this now. Its over. You and Nick are over. Just, be happy for him. All right." Kyle hugged her close.

"I know. I want to be. I will." She leaned into his shoulder.

"Did you see Amanda's engagement ring?" Kyle finally said.

"I wasn't going to bring that up," Kelsey sighed. "What did she say about it?"

"I didn't want to ask her." Kyle said so quietly.

"Are you all right?" She looked at him then.

"I guess I have to be." He sighed. "At least I know him."

"Yeah, you do." She kept looking at him. He smiled. They kissed. It was as if they had a lot of catching up to do. No talking. Just the kissing. It was something Kyle planned to appreciate to the fullest.
