another roomie

Roger squirmed the more he talked with Liz about her job at the V.A. hospital where she worked in an animal lab. She impregnated mice as well as killed them.

"I have to kill a pig tomorrow." She said so matter of fact. She needed a place to stay like yesterday.

"You ever done that before?" Roger winced, wishing she'd stop talking about this sort of thing. She was so cold that it was kind of scary to him.

"Yeah," she shrugged. She was taking off a semester from studying and just focusing on a real-life job. "My Mom thinks its good for me to be around people instead of animals. I promised I wouldn't have a pet, you know."

"Good." Roger had to say since his father made it a rule.

"I used to have a snake, but he got in the dryer, that didn't end well." She told him as she looked around where Lon and Ellie had stayed. "Honestly, I don't have that much stuff." She sat on the bed and bounced on it. "Not to noisy." She grinned as if she had her mind set on something that Roger wasn't so sure he wanted to know about.

He hoped Olivia wouldn't be terribly upset with him, but it was better if she got the room and Ravi was taking Nick's room. It was all coming together. He guessed. He hoped. At least, Demetri wasn't interested, after-all. He and Cory were getting their own place. He just hoped they wouldn't invite him over. He just wasn't sure he could handle it.

Liz handed him cash up front for this month's and next month's rent.

"Yeah, I got plenty of cash for working the holidays." She grinned as if she were pretty proud of herself. Roger smiled back. He knew his Dad would be happy that he found someone who had already paid this much in advance.
