"OK, I get it." Kyle had Eric over to play video games. He felt he had to help him out, somehow. He hadn't meant to blow him off as of late..even if Amber was taking up most of his time, and they weren't even really dating. "I'm wanting to be with Amber."
"You haven't even kissed her." Eric focused on the game, punching his thumbs on the gear as if he was struggling to stay focused on Grand Theft Auto.
"No." Kyle winced. "Its just too soon, all right."
"Too soon? What are you talking about." Eric's character got killed then.
"Unlike you, I don't have to rush into everything." Kyle told him.
"I rush in? I-I went a very long time not having sex at all when I was with Olivia. A horribly long time, you know that." Eric looked at him as if it was the worst time of his life.
"Oh, and that really paid off." Kyle didn't mean to smile, but Amanda probably would have gotten pregnant no matter what. It would have just been Elliot's baby. He hated to think that, but it was how he felt.
"I thought about going to AA's."
"You have a drinking problem?" Kyle winced.
"No. I might. I don't know. I'm kind of ...well, I get addictive to things." Eric sort of shook when he said that.
"No, you don't." Kyle laughed.
"Really?" He looked at him as if he was thrilled that he said that. "Why is it I screw everything up?" He plopped down on Kyle's couch then.
"You just look at it all wrong, you know that." Kyle told him.
"I do."
"You don't want to learn anything from your mistakes. You like being in a rut. You expect this." Kyle shrugged.
"You think that's it?" Eric glared.
"Look, you have to shut up about this so called love life of yours. You aren't helpless. No one wants to think they are part of an intervention team when you're around, OK." Kyle informed him.
"Sorry." Eric winced tears.
"Its OK. You have to decide. Is Syd worth the effort or do you just go on and take one day at a time. And enjoy life." Kyle told him.
Eric just nodded.
"You're strong enough. You are. You've made it this far. You're gonna be a Dad." Kyle smiled.
Eric whimpered instead. Kyle guessed Eric needed a good cry. He didn't want to be the worst friend in the world so he let Eric cry on his shoulder.
Kyle's a good friend. Poor Eric.
ReplyDeleteKyle is so much more mature than Eric.
ReplyDeleteAt least he's telling Eric the way it is.
