just a tea-party

Olivia didn't know where to start. Just what would she say to Ellie, exactly. It wasn't like she'd texted Ellie the moment she and Roger broke up. Ellie had things going on. It would have just been trivial.

"Wow, you've been cooking crazy." Ellie looked at the cookies and the candies in the kitchen.

"I've had a lot on my mind and there's a bake sale at the school." Olivia smiled. That about covered it.

"So how are things?" Ellie wanted to know.

"Good." Olivia winced then, knowing that wasn't true. "OK, weird. Just weird." She poured Ellie some hot tea then as if they'd have a real tea party with all the left over sweets. Ellie didn't have Charlie with her so there was no threats that he'd be covered in icing if he'd gotten into the cupcakes. Really, Charlie could do damage to fresh baked goods.

"How weird?" Ellie wanted to know. "You are OK now, aren't you?"

"Good as new." Olivia smiled, but not too much. "Roger and I broke up."

"But if you're still here and he's still here and..and Eric and Syd have my old room..." Ellie winced as if this was a difficult math problem. "Did Ravi move out?"

"No." She barely said. "He's with me."

Ellie just shot her a look. "But things were going so well with he and..and Kelsey, I thought-"

"No. Evidently, not." Olivia shook her head, no. She really didn't want to talk about it. She really didn't.

"How's Roger?"

"I don't really know, we don't say much." She shrugged.

"Anyway, its gonna be OK. I want to move. I tried." Olivia sighed as she pushed a tray of heart shaped sugar cookies near Ellie. "But, but my aunt isn't really fond of Ravi."

"So you are really with Ravi? Not just, you know, roomie stuff?" Ellie looked at her point blank.

Olivia bit her bottom lip.

"Anything else I should know?" Ellie glared at Olivia.

"I might meet my sister. Half-sister." Olivia sipped her tea then.

"Are you? When?" Ellie wanted to know.

"I dunno. Soon. When she calls me. I guess." Olivia didn't want to think about it.

"Olivia, I hope it works out." Ellie snatched a cookie then and bit into it. "I got to meet my mom's parents finally. It wasn't that bad, really. I dunno what all the fuss was about."

Olivia just smiled. Maybe this would work out for her too, but she didn't want to get too excited. She doubted her sister was that excited to see her, or it would have already happened.

  2. I tried day of silence and lasted about 20mins. I work for eHarmony/Compatible Partners so it would have been impossible for me to not talk(calling was not an option). plus with a 1 1/2 year old. I think 20mins was good! I wish I could have done longer. I praise everyone that attemptd or did their silence!
