Ravi stared at Charlie in the middle of the livingroom. He and Olivia had came over as soon as Ellie called them. She needed to drive Lon to the hospital.

"Biting. He's biting now, Olivia." Ravi was rigid. They might as well have put him in a room with a pit bull. It would have been just as fun. Not.

"It'll be OK." Olivia smiled. She went to get Charlie some of the animal crackers he liked.

"I dunno if I'm ready for this." Ravi shook his head, no.

"Well, go home." Olivia squinted.

"No, I can't. I can't just leave you here with him." He shook his head, no.

"We'll be fine." She gave him some animal crackers too.

"OK." He nodded as he edged to the couch, wondering if Charlie would be hungry for an arm, or he didn't know what.

"Did something happen to you when you were little?" Olivia smiled as she bit into an animal cracker.

"No. No, why would you say that?" He looked at her as he grabbed the remote before Charlie got to it.

"You haven't been around kids much, huh?" She pursed her lips.

"I have a little sister." He winced.

"She's in 8th grade." Olivia knew a few things about his family. She'd seen pictures in his photo albums. He said they'd meet her as soon as classes were over.

"She was a kid once." He shrugged.

"Which reminds me, you have not held Evan yet." Olivia glared at him then.

"He's just an infant. I'm clumsy." He couldn't tell her children scared him. She might think he was worse than Amanda.

Suddenly, Charlie ran up to Ravi and grabbed both of his knees.

"I think he's coming to get you, Ravi." Olivia laughed.

Ravi remained still as Charlie crawled up in his lap, put his pudgy hand around Ravi's neck and rested his head on Ravi's shoulder. Ravi hadn't a clue what this meant. He slightly rubbed Charlie's back then. Soon enough Charlie was sleeping soundly.
