Eric's mind buzzed with the new possibility of another job to squeeze in. At least for the summer. Maybe he'd just not go to school. There was a chance he could get a job driving a bus for handicapped kids. It would help.

"No." Syd didn't like the idea. "You get this done what you got started. We'll survive somehow. You need your degree." He could take online classes.

If it wasn't one thing to fuss about, it was the whole Amanda thing. They weren't exactly seeing eye to eye on that matter, either. Honestly, he didn't want to fuss with Syd about it. As it was, they were pretty much stuck.

"But how can you be on her side, huh?" He wanted to know. True, Amanda only wanted to visit Evan on Sunday afternoons.

"She is his mother," Syd reminded him. "And he needs to know who she is, even if its once a week."

Eric tried to be understanding. He did, but there was the threat that Amanda would wake up one day and want him back.

"Look, thats always going to be threat. We'll figure it out when it happens. But she seems pretty set on Sundays. You just have to be pleasant." She told him.

"No, I don't." He gave her a spiteful look back. He didn't want to be this way. He hated this tension. He didn't like it.

"You'll only make it worse." Syd usually gave up after that sentence. She just wanted him to calm down. And he was trying. He was. But there was so much do. So much so uncertain. Really, he was sure of it now, it was all Amanda's doing. She wanted them all to be unhappy. If she couldn't be happy, neither could he, nor even Syd. It felt contagious to him.

But in the end, Syd always got to him, that they were happy. And they could be happy if he just let Amanda have her Sunday's with Evan. It wasn't like she took him anywhere. Just a little visit for an hour or so.

Just for an hour or so, he had to keep remembering. Just for an hour or so.
