it could get ugly

"Where have you been?" Kayla was acting all bossy. Actually, she was Ian's boss at the library, but he hadn't done anything to act like she wasn't.

"What do you mean?" Ian winced. "I'm here. Shelving books."

"But-" She pressed her lips tight. "I never see you, anymore." She hugged herself as if he was supposed to do something about that.

"Well-" What was he supposed to say.

"Are you seeing her?" She turned to look toward the young adult area where a highly processed blond in black was looking at graphic novels.

"What?" Ian had to laugh. "First of all, I don't know her name and she scares me. I think she has a boyfriend."

"You know, Tori is schizo, don't you? And that Steve is just as bad. He has autism or something. He's had an episode in here before. I'm just waiting for the day, Tori has one. She's such a compulsive liar. Stay away from her, Ian." Kayla glared at him.

"Not a problem. Really." Ian nodded.

"So what are you doing after work, lately?" Kayla wanted to know.

"Not that its any of your business, but I've been hanging out with someone who likes to draw pictures of me." He said very casually.

She gave him a scowl then. Ian couldn't help but smile. If only she knew he was just babysitting.
