keeping it cold

Kayla was ignoring Ian as much as possible. He took his cue to act as if she wasn't even there at work, either. The silent treatment.

It was awkward, and he felt so spacey, because, he wasn't that drunk when it happened. Neither was she. But now it was as if nothing had happened at all. He'd had to lie to Eric's mother when she asked about the wine. He said he didn't see any wine. "You guys must have drank it." It was just a casual little lie. No one was going to get hurt over it. Were they?

And it had just been a lot of kissing with Kayla. But somehow he felt he knew her so much better now and yes, it was engraved deep inside him, she was the only one he felt quite that close too. Cami couldn't compare to that, even if he did his best to try to think of Cami and what they had. But the vision just wasn't there. All he could see was Kayla in his mind. He hated that fact. Yet, that was who he wanted to think about too.

Just then as he was pushing a kid's cart ready to put away, there was Cami.

"Why didn't you tell me you were working here?" She was all smiles.

"I dunno." He felt dizzy, suddenly. He wanted to ignore her, but she was following him. "I thought you were still at camp."

"That's over." She nodded.

"I see." He tried not to wince. No way was he getting back with her. Not now. Never. He nodded, almost cold. He wanted to be cold, but she had to be so nice. He went on to do his work. He didn't even give her a second look. He had to keep this cold. He had too.
