"Are you going to talk to your Mom about what you think about Oliver?" Syd was getting ready to take a stress test and see if everything was on time with the baby. She'd had a slight scare. Some contractions. It scared her so they ended up at the doctor's office.
Eric shook his head, no. "Its not my place, and besides we pretty much have a full plate, now don't we?" He was being chipper as if all that was on his mind was the baby. Nothing else. He sat there in the doctor's office with his arm around her. Olivia had Evan even if Amanda had said she could come over. Eric really didn't feel like arguing with her. He would wait and see if she did. He had his doubts. Really, he felt not much had changed about her since her little tour with the boys, as she so called it.
"I don't like contractions." Syd shook her head as if she never wanted to have another one. Of course, the next thing Eric heard from the nurse when they got to the room was the fact that contractions might happen when they strapped on the contraption to monitor her and the baby.
"Come on, you can do it, we'll stop at that place you like to get ice cream, after-wards." He coaxed. She looked at him as if that wasn't what she needed.
Soon enough, it was happening, the contractions. They told him they weren't serious one. Just little ones. She'd hardly dilated at all. Eric just winced. All this time, he'd wanted them to get married, but it hadn't happened. What if it never happened?
He was growing restless. Maybe a trip to the courthouse was where they really needed to go.
