not something to yell about

"Married?" Olivia winced on her cell. She didn't know Eric and Syd were going to do that. She was in the kitchen with Amanda who was holding Evan. Naturally, Amanda stood up with the baby and wanted to know what was going on. Olivia just shook her head.

"We can't get married til September 10, that's the earliest they can squeeze us in, who knew." Eric sounded frantic.

"How's  Syd?" Olivia wanted to know.

"Fine, just a few contractions. Nothing serious." He told her.

"I think that's kind of serious if she's having contractions, you know." Olivia sighed. Then told him she was making a huge salad with lots of goodies because it was too hot to cook.

"What did he say?" Amanda wanted to know.

"It won't happen til September, sometime." Olivia shrugged.

"Wow. He's really serious about this. What if Syd doesn't want too?" Amanda was a bit snooty as she went back to the seat she'd been in with Evan.

"What are you getting at?" Olivia looked at her.

"She just doesn't seem like the marrying kind to me." Amanda told her.

"Seriously, like you'd know? She's not even friends with you. She's my best friend and, and she wants to wear white and a ceremony at  the park. OK?" Olivia gave Amanda a glare then.

"Just buddy buddy with everyone, aren't you?" Amanda winced. "I'm up there, I have no one to talk to, you know."

"Amanda, you went one whole summer. No, make that two whole summers, talking to none of us, and now you're mad that you have no friends." Olivia started chopping celery then. "We're right here." Olivia looked back at her. "Don't you think we all have problems. Not just you." Olivia could feel herself yelling. She hated to think she was, but she might have been. "Pick up the phone, call any of us? Ellie would talk to you if you'd just call. You have to call. You can't expect any of us to just drop what we're doing, when you've made it very clear that you want to be left alone."

Amanda just gave her a swelled frown and looked up at her.
