sister sister

Ellie could feel it coming. She just knew it. It was only a matter of time.

"Why can't you keep the kids?" Her sister was adamant about it. Thankfully, Lisa was at her Dad's and it was just a phone call.

"Why do you think?" Wasn't it obvious? She had Charlie to contend with and had her sister forgotten she was pregnant.

"That's no big deal. They wouldn't be that much trouble." Lisa insisted.

"Well, I can't." Ellie paced with her cell. No way was she going to put herself out there for those two little monsters. Really, her sister wasn't that good with them. Never telling them no. And what if she reprimanded them and got in trouble? No, Ellie wasn't going to have a thing to do with this. It wasn't a major emergency. No. Just no, thought Ellie.

"God, I thought you might have changed after you got married." Her sister sounded mad.

Ellie gave her a deep sigh. Obviously, Lisa hadn't.

"I can't just drop everything and go over there." Ellie told her.

"What are you doing right now?" Lisa demanded.

"Laundry." Well, not exactly. She was taking it easy. She was trying to read Elizabeth Aston's Writing Jane Austen, and she'd been surfing the net. Charlie was at the daycare, already. "I'm going grocery shopping."

"Why can't you be closer?" Lisa fretted.

Ellie rolled her eyes.

"Look, we were never really that close, you know. And now-"

"Oh, Ellie, just stop wiening. Will you?" Lisa was at her wits end. "I can't stand it here. Geo hasn't found a job, you know. And-and-"

"What about Mom?" Wasn't that her answer to everything.

"She can't be bothered, evidently." Lisa fumed.

"What happened?"

"We got in a fight." Lisa explained. "She thinks its time I leave Geo."

Ellie squinted. She had no idea that her Mom was that way with Lisa. She always thought Lisa could do no wrong.

  2. It doesn't take much to figure out what's really going on .... Ellie has a right to enjoy her day without her Sister making her feel guilty about babysitting her brats.

We definitely need "me" time. I'm sure her sister does too. But..doesn't mean Ellie has to be there for the rescue.

  4. Sometimes, I think Lisa has brought this on herself. But its always a battle with a mom you can't see everything her way.

  5. Its tough being a sister. I know Ellie thinks she's a bad one, but Lisa I think is the bad one. I hope they'll figure out to be more kind to each other.
