"Unbelievable." Elliot managed to get out. This was a monster of a thing. The bus. They were going to live in it the next few weeks? He squinted hard.
"You are a school teacher." Dan put his arm around Elliot. "All school teachers drive school buses."
"Not one this big." What planet was he from? Elliot was not a bus driver. Just a teacher. Elliot shook his head, but no way was he wanting Amanda to take the helm and Roger was out of the question. He hated driving.
Dan said they'd worked on this thing for years.
"Finally, got the engine going." Dan nodded.
"Is it safe?" Elliot looked at him. He didn't want to do anything dangerous.
"Hell, yeah." The bus had new breaks. All sort of new stuff. "You're our family and we take pride in that and we take care of our own."
Elliot just nodded. He felt a knot in his stomach.
"Well, come on, get acquainted with your new home. You might never want to leave it." Dan smiled.
"Well, I dunno, what will we do about gas and everything?" This was all so serious. Suddenly.
"Jed said he'd give you the gas card. Just don't over do it." Dan nodded. "It goes 55 tops."
"Oh." Something else to add into the equation of success. Timing was everything, now wasn't it?
