on arrival

Ravi's worst fear had arrived.

"How did you find me?" Ravi didn't think Archie, his older half sister, would have a clue nor care where he was.

"Dad, of course." She came right into the house with her arms crossed ready for an inspection. He guessed.

"Did he put you up to this, Archie?" Ravi gave her a glare. He couldn't remember the last time they talked. He didn't even think he had her phone number.

"Of course not." She winced, but he didn't believe her. She was a princess of sorts expecting something expensive, and he knew she never cared for how he dressed or his likes or anything about him for that matter.

He showed her to the living-room where they sat down on the sofa.

"Dad says you have a girl now." She made it sound as if he'd kidnapped Olivia. "He likes her."

"Oh." Ravi guess that was good news. He didn't know what to say. It wasn't that his father expected them to marry a certain kind. After all, his mother was Italian. "What are getting at?" Ravi was getting nervous. Was this some sort of test. He'd figured Archie to go into law. She loved lawyer shows and was always jumping up to defend someone, but they'd lost contact. She'd been a little cross with their dad.

Finally, she asked about his classes. She was asking questions about him. Not talking only about herself.

"I want to meet her." Archie was back to Olivia. Still giving him a bit of a cross look.

"Olivia?" Ravi felt uneasy. He didn't know how his sister would be around Olivia. About then, Eric and his sister came in from the kitchen. Suddenly, it felt sort of like a party. Eric's sister was a real ice breaker. She talked about schools and all sororites with Archie. Ravi finally relaxed. Maybe he'd get through this. His sister was actually smiling. Maybe she really did like people, after all.
