never been a follower

Derrick knew who he was looking for. He just didn't want anyone to know, at the library. But he'd walked in on something in the youth area.

"Does this mean you're joining us for the book club." Asa caught him off guard. There were a couple of girls hanging around Asa.

"What book club?" Derrick didn't think so.

Asa held up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. He then slammed it down on the table next to Derrick. There were some other kids around, but they were drawing pictures in the Anime circle. "You could be one of the first to tell me what you think." He sat down from across Derrick who was looking the book over. Derrick wore the black fingerless gloves that some girl made for him at school. He liked them more than her, but she didn't know that yet.

"I really don't think you know me that well." Derrick snidely remarked.

"Maybe we're more alike, than you know." Asa told him with a sly smirk.

"I highly doubt that, seriously." Derrick gave Asa an angry glare. Besides he knew exactly who Asa was after. His sister Amanda.

"Well, when you decide to stop being so you, maybe you'll read it and discuss what you think. We'd love to have you join the club." Asa was back to that stupid book, thought Derrick. It was about zombies.

"Ian know about the book?" Derrick wondered.

"Yeah, I mentioned it to him." Asa nodded.

"All right, I'll join your stupid book club." Derrick sighed. Maybe Ian would think he wasn't such a couch potato, after all. Of course, he might stare at the book-cover for hours.
