open your eyes, boy

"So, don't you think its time you learned to drive?" Eric decided he really needed to help Oliver. He wasn't the biggest talker with Eric who hadn't meant to put him off. After all, Eric had gotten Lon and Kyle to use all their mad skills on making a room for Oliver not so long ago when the weather was mild.

"I dunno," Oliver got a bit silly on him, there in the kitchen. "I've come this far with out knowing."

Eric smiled back wondering just what his problem was.

"Have you ever driven a car before?" Eric couldn't imagine him not ever trying.

"No." He shook his head. "I don't do automobiles much."

"Well, Ian drives." Eric mentioned as if that had to be inspiring. "Maybe we should drive down, see if he wants to help with you learning to drive."

"Oh, I couldn't." Oliver looked a bit uneasy about it.

"But it would be so much easier, on all of us if you got your license." Eric knew it wasn't easy on Syd having to get Oliver to work. Eric always picked him up, after work.

"Who, says I'm even staying?" He shrugged then as if nothing was set in stone about him being here, for good.

Eric drew in  a breath. It was hard to tell if Oliver didn't feel he could be a part of the family, or were they not making him feel wanted enough.

"We do want to get to know you, Oliver. We do." Eric promised, wishing he could shake some sense into him. But he was a bit familiar with Oliver's stubbornness. It must run in the family. "Just see if you might like getting behind the wheel. Who knows, you might get an early Christmas present if you get the hang of it."

  6. Haha I don't know how to drive yet, I suppose it's not that necessary where I live, public transportation is pretty good. But I must learn eventually!

  7. I have a friend who does not drive at all and lives 45 minutes away. It is really annoying sometimes picking her up, especially when everyone is busy, so I know how they feel.
