"Well, there is room." She looked at him as if he was being too negative about this.
"That's my brother's room." Eric squinted.
"Well, he's at Kayla's." Syd told him.
Eric didn't look too happy though. He stirred more cream in his coffee. He shook his head then.
"They'll work it out. And, and who knows, maybe she's with that brother of his." Eric shrugged.
"Cousin." Syd clarified.
"Who knows." He dug into his cherry pie as if he were going to enjoy this time together or else.
"She's in such-"
"What? Limbo? She probably drove him to drink." Eric snapped, not wanting to see Amanda's side of the situation.
"Its going to take so much to fix this. I dunno if he'll be on his feet, you know. And, and if its so bad between them..I don't know how she's going to do this." Syd sipped at her hot tea.
"Don't you see, we have no business taking in Amanda. She's got that kid brother of hers, that I hope moves back in with that brother of theirs. He's not a good influence for Ian. He's not." Eric decided.
"They're friends." Syd glared at him. "In fact, Ian is helping him with Rosie right now."
"I thought she was with Kyle?" Eric winced hard as if he didn't want to be drawn into any of this.
Syd reminded him that his Mom said that Ian was over at Amanda's. Syd called this morning.
"Maybe we need to run by there. See what's up." Eric finally decided. God knows, what boys might be doing if they were alone. A late new year's party?
