it won't be easy
"You don't have to be so nervous." Kyle looked at Amber's face. It was tense. Something was wrong, but he couldn't quite place that look. It must have been about his brother coming to dinner. "Its not like Sam will bite, you know." He wanted her to laugh with him.
"Oh." He just wasn't sure if that were a chuckle or not. NOT. Kyle didn't really have time to worry about it. After all, this was his perfect brother they were talking about, but the fact remained, he knew Sam wasn't perfect. Never was. Yet, he chose all the perfect girls. His brother wanted to seem he was perfect.
Yeah, for a long time there..Kyle thought maybe Sam was gay. That was his problem. But he'd persisted to always have a girlfriend. Always there for the long haul. Then just to say in the end..they had a problem. He couldn't be with anyone with a problem.
"Just don't ask..what he's been doing." Kyle sighed as he watched Amber fold clothes on their bed. He folded a couple of towels. Then he helped her with the sheets. Really, they had this down to a neat formation. If they'd been in a contest about such domestic things, they would have won.
She just nodded.
"You're being awful quiet?" He was sensing something really was wrong.
"No. No, I'm - I'm feeling kind of..sick." She just looked sad. "Maybe the two of you should go out to dinner. You know, that steak house you keep talking about that we never go too."
"You have to come, Amber. You have too." He glared at her. She had to be his buffer.
