if only it were old times

What Roxie would give if she could have Kyle all to herself. They had a lot of catching up to do. But she supposed that wasn't going to happen. After all, he was just dropping off Rosie for the evening.

"What is it that you do, again?" Maybe she asked to see him a few minutes longer.

"Electrician." He shrugged. Naturally, he wouldn't look at her directly.

"Well, if you need a haircut-"

"Do you think so?" He looked at her seriously. Roxie just grinned. Rosie and Jai made themselves comfortable with the cheese pizza she'd ordered. They were gathered around the coffee table, gobbling up the slices and watching TV.

"I'm just saying, I cut hair." She didn't want to make it anymore than it was. She wouldn't say she was a stylist. She was possibly just a barber. It was her sister who was a stylist. Roxie shaved heads for a living. Usually, Air Force regulars and some times, cops.

Kyle nodded as if he were edging for the door.

"So how's Amanda?" Roxie spoke to her in passing. It was before she knew her connection to Kyle. She was just Rosie's mother to Roxie.

"Pregnant." Kyle shrugged.

"Mommy has Asa and Elliot." Rosie did the math. She put up two fingers.

"She'll be reporting the news one day." Roxie let slip. "I'll turn on the TV and she'll be telling, no telling what."

Kyle almost smiled.

"Well, I don't want to keep you." Roxie went to make sure the kids had enough juice while they watched Dora the Explorer.

"Oh, you can keep him." Rosie told her. She patted a down place for Kyle on the couch.

"Did you want some pizza?" Roxie asked.

"Um."

"He was gonna go home and have hot dogs, that's all Momma Joan keeps in the fridge." Rosie did know everything.

"You want to help me with CANDYLAND?" Roxie wondered.

"Sure." Kyle nodded.

He followed her to the kitchen then and she reached for a diet Pepsi.

"Maybe we can talk about. About everyone." She grinned. It had been a long time, and she didn't know about Nick. It was still a shock that Eric didn't marry Ellie. She definitely wouldn't ask about Roger. She knew Roger was with Kyle's ex (Thanks to Rosie).
