making a house a home

Olivia was so happy to see her Dad. The real one. She hoped to spend Father's day with her adopted father, but she really wasn't counting on it. She knew her adoptive parents mission was their ministry. And they'd rather be helping others than spending family time with her. She'd accepted that long ago. It was their life. Even so, she felt a little guilty about having her Dad here, as if he were her little secret.

"Now, this thing with Sophia." He was concerned about that. "You can't just take over. You have to let her decide. She'll want the baby. And then ..this Steve... what about him? Its his baby?" He was all serious about Olivia having her own life. "You have to enjoy it with Ravi. So, if all goes well, I might be getting on at the University here."

"Like a professor?" Olivia couldn't believe it.

"Like a professor." Her Dad shrugged.

She hugged him, tight. It was the best present ever.

"Now, I won't know for a week or two, but everything is looking like I might be teaching creative writing and some playwriting classes, as well." He told her.

"I dunno what to say." She grinned more. Suddenly, she felt light headed. "I have my sister now, and you. Which reminds me, I invited her over for dinner. It'll be Mom and Steve, Ravi and me. I'm so happy."

Olivia could hardly believe it. This was so amazing. She hoped Penelope didn't screw this up. If Steve was around, she was sure to be in a bad mood.
