setting off fireworks

Kyle finally felt things were back to being good, as of late. Especially with Rox. They'd made up. And Sam had helped a lot in that area. Giving them some free time to be together. He was thankfully, Sam would be an uncle not only to Rosie but Jai, too.

"So, do you think they'll hate us one day?" He found himself asking Rox on the night of the Fireworks at the new baseball stadium. They'd spent the day there with the kids. It had been a fun day of hotdogs and ice cream, along with a local concert and then fireworks.

"What are you talking about?" She looked at  him a bit puzzled.

"The kids." They had to think about this. "I mean, what if..what if we got married, and..and Rosie couldn't stand the fact that Jai is her step-brother?"

"Well, she did find him first. But, but she's just a little girl. Things change. She might hate him one day. Who knows, maybe they'll be married one day. But we can't expect the worst, you know." She told  him they needed to make the best of it.

He agreed. He was going to the University in the fall. Engineering.

Rox just smiled. "That's great."

"We'll see." He sighed as he took her hand. "Honestly, I dunno if that's all I want to do."

"What do you mean?" Rox winced.

"I want us to be together. And, I'm thinking the sooner the better. Not later." Kyle nodded. Just as the fireworks started to be set off. Kyle got out the engagement ring from his pocket. "Will you marry me?"

Rox looked at the ring. She nodded. It was so loud in the stadium. Kyle looked up at the fireworks. It felt like a new start. He felt like jumping, of course, the kids had already started without him.
