not on her mind

Kayla didn't know how she felt about Jules moving in. It was great that he could help Oliver with the business. But she didn't really want a thing to do with him.

"What do you mean? You don't invite him over for dinner or anything?" Of course, Asa would have to put her on a guilt trip. Wasn't like she was asking him a million and one questions about life after Amanda had her baby. She wished Asa kept to himself, but then again, they were friends and she'd rather work with him than anyone else at the library.

Maybe he was right.

"He needs his space." She meant Jules, but she was thinking of herself. "I'm not going to cook for him. All the time. Maybe we could make it once a week dinner, or something. He's got his own place." Kayla reminded Asa.

"Really? His own apartment?" Asa didn't know.

"Sort of." She didn't actually look at the studio. At least Jules had his own bathroom. Place for a fridge and a microwave.

"You could at least get him a library card." Asa sounded as if that would be practical.

Kayla hadn't thought about that. She really hadn't wanted to be nice to Jules because actually, she liked having the whole flat to her and Oliver. It wasn't like anyone else in the old towne  lived above their business.
