all too soon
"I dunno what went wrong." Jonah didn't talk about the date until breakfast the next morning, which was actually noon. Of course, he was late for work, but he didn't really care. His sister was trying to hurry him along. Of course, she'd been to classes and back, already. She was off for more in the afternoon, just home on lunch break.
"Maybe you did nothing wrong." Willow shrugged as she was hurrying to roll some refried beans and cheese in a warm flour tortilla.
"No, it was me. I asked him." Jonah nodded as he remembered what Jules said. It was funny how it put it, Jonah now thought. Of course, it started with Jonah's funny question. "What do you think of me?" Jules just pursed that fat lip of his and finally said. "I think I envy you a good bit. You have a lovely home, people who care about you and an education that obviously gave you what you wanted. I don't really like anything about you." Jonah wondered then if he were joking.
"You asked him what?" Willow laughed. "You don't ask somebody questions like that."
"Well, I still like him. I do." Jonah shrugged as he put himself some breakfast together on a tortilla.
"Yeah, I know you do." She told him he needed to hurry. There was a time they had a driver who did these things, but times weren't like they used to be. They had to fend for themselves. Willow still nagged endlessly that he needed to drive. "Maybe if you learned to drive, you could show this Jules, you're not a complete fool."
