an awful lot like it used to be

So this was being smitten. Josie felt as if she were in a state of a daydream as she went..more or less through the motions of her schedule at school.

She'd fallen into what felt like a soft cloud, and it was all because of Jules. It was better than she ever expected. He knew what to do. Well, of course, he was English and ..she wanted to be with him right now.

"What happened to you?" Derrick cornered her at lunch. It was like being with the three Amigos. His brother ate lunch with him and Ian. Still she felt like the fifth wheel. She was alone now.

"Nothing." She looked at them as if they were judging her. She kept her eye on Max with that idiotic smile. He freaked her just a bit, but maybe she had a secret admirer. Although, she didn't really care. There was Jules to think about.

"Look, she said it was nothing." Ian finished up his roll that he'd put a slice of ham in.

"I don't believe her." Derrick gave her a sullen look. Suddenly, it was as if he were the nosy friend she never wanted.

"I'm fine." Yet, at the same moment she was dreaming of Jules' eyes looking up at her as she wondered what he thought of her now. It was a mixed emotion of joy and sorrow, all at once. She'd been so proud to go so long without anyone..and now she so depended on him for her happiness. It was amazing and devastating at the same moment.

"You don't look that fine." Derrick remarked, asking Max what he thought.

"I guess she's fine." Max mumbled as if he were afraid to say anything different. A part of her knew she scared Max, as Josie almost exposed a laugh.

Ian gave Derrick a look that it was time to stop talking about Josie's state of mind. He mentioned a band coming to their favorite concert hall. "Owl city is gonna be here like..in a week." He wanted to go. He'd gotten tickets for he and Derrick. "Maybe you could go with Max, Josie?"

There was only one person she wanted to go with.

"I dunno." She sounded in different.

"But its your favorite band?" Ian looked at her as if something was really wrong with her.

"I..I saw them already, over the summer." Suddenly, the band was not important to her. There was only one thing on her mind. It had nothing to do with music.
