every little thing

"Mom, you didn't have to come." Roger hadn't expect to see his mother show up at the hospital too. "What are you doing here?"

"You almost drowned." She reminded him that he didn't like to swim. What had gotten into him to go into the river?

Roger didn't have time to explain, but then she mentioned how she wanted to meet this person who saved his life. Suddenly, he felt a bit overwhelmed with grief. Ryan was the only thing on his mind at the moment.

"Is she OK?" His mom asked in the next breath.

"I guess. Maybe." He didn't know how Ryan really felt about having Type 1 diabetes. She'd been kind of quiet about it. But she'd listened to the team of doctors talk to her about insulin shots and other things she'd need to do to control her blood sugar.

It freaked him a little, but he was glad she was going to be OK.

Finally Roger gave them both a hug. He guessed if Ryan's parents were going to be a no show, maybe his parents would be there for the both of them.
