brother of another mother
"Woo..." Sam couldn't think of anything else to say to Elliot when he mentioned the sibling he never knew. "I mean, it could be a good thing." Sam leaned back his computer chair as he looked at Elliot's Dad on Facebook. It was no luck finding out the mystery person Elliot's dad spoke of. "Maybe.. he'll tell you more, when..you know..its just the two of you."
Elliot sucked in a breath as if he'd been hit with some sort of headache instead of a gift.
"OK, I'll tell you this," Sam shrugged. "My Junior year in college, I had this guy come to my dorm room. He said I was with his brother. We share the same last name. Of course, he'd never met his Dad. But, yeah, we're brothers. I knew as soon as I looked at him."
"What did you do?" Elliot wanted to know as if their might be some sort of secret to the process.
"Not that much. I mean, we talked. He talked about where he grew up. How his Mom never married. It was just the two of them. I dunno, I never really felt like he was my real brother. Kyle will always be my little brother. I guess it was me. You know, not trying harder to keep in touch. He joined the army. Dunno what happened to Will."
Elliot hugged himself in thought.
"Just don't make this something major, OK? You gotta a lot of other things to make you happy these days. Don't let this be a big deal." Sam winced with a smile. He got up and slapped Elliot on the back.
"You never told Kyle about that brother?" Elliot asked as if he was more worried about Sam than his own wayward sibling.
"Just didn't seem necessary." Sam told him, not wanting to spill all the family secrets.
