not so sweet

Willow kept listening to Ste over the phone. He was terribly worried about Jonah.

"He's moving out, did you know?" Ste didn't sound pleased to the fact. "How can I see after him, if he's on his own in London?"

"Its not like he calls me." She hated to admit, he hadn't called her in a good long while. Not that she hadn't tried. She'd leave him messages, at least once a week. "I'm sure its not the end of the world." She hoped not, anyway.

"Do you know about this?" She questioned Jules after she got off the phone about Jonah.

"He might have mentioned it." Jules winced as if he'd forgotten to tell her.

"Why didn't, you, tell me?" Now she was really upset.

"See?" He eyeballed her then as he slapped his laptop shut. "It really isn't that big of deal, you know. He's with Gilly. They found a place. Together."

"And you weren't going to tell me?" She winced harder.

"I figured Jonah would." Jules shrugged.

"You know, by now, he wouldn't." She dialed her mother, quick enough, just to be pushed to a sound recording. Willow didn't even bother to leave a message. As she plopped down on the bed, it occurred to her they didn't really care, what she did. Her mother distanced herself more and more these days. She looked at Jules then, knowing it was all because of him. Willow was full emotion. She knew she had to keep it together.

"Sorry, babe." Jules set next to her and put his arm around her. "They'll be fine." He intertwined his fingers with her fingers. His little smile got bigger as he closed in. He kissed her on the cheek.

"Of course." She nodded as if she felt weepy. Was it selfish to wish her mother might worry about her, just a little? Not that she wanted to pack up and ring the doorbell at home. Yet, it really hurt.

"I really like the new menu." Jules talked about work then. "You really are amazing. It'll make things better. You'll see." Of course, Oliver was in a stew about it. He didn't like any of her ideas.

Willow nodded. She really couldn't talk about it, at the moment. It was true. Jules was her future and she couldn't dwell on the past.
