In the KNOW.

Max and Daisy were drifting a part. Maybe it was his fault. He'd quit the movie theater over a month ago and was now at the grocery store working Saturdays and Sundays.

"You are still her boyfriend, aren't you?" Derrick asked. In the next breath he was telling Max about seeing her at Cedric's. "Why would you let her go there?"

Max wanted to keep calm, but he couldn't help but ask. "Why were you, there?"

Since they didn't see each other anymore, sometimes, Derrick would show up on a Saturday morning so they could have something to eat at the dining area at the Mega grocery store. For Max it was lunch,  breakfast for Derrick.

"Hey, don't worry about me." He grinned. After all, his flannel plaid shirt smelled of sweet weed and Derrick looked as if he still might be a little high. "What are you going to do about Daisy?"

Max looked at him wide eyed. Suddenly, he didn't feel like eating pizza with Derrick.

"Its her own life." Max knew she'd be more bitter with him if he tried to pull her from this black hole she'd gotten herself into, with the party life at Cedric's.

"Yeah, well..she's there all the time." Derrick smirked as if maybe she was cramping his world.

"Sounds like you, must be there all the time, too." Max kept straight lipped. Evidently, Derrick wasn't actually staying with his older brother, after all.

"I just thought..you cared, you know." Derrick made it sound that Daisy's downfall was all Max's fault.

"You can only care so much." Max stared at his pizza as if it were a quick a fix and not the real deal, either. He guessed he could call her parents. Max thought they would have known by now. They were kind of strict. He thought.

"So how's the little monster?" Derrick asked about Dylan. He laughed, but Max could tell it was fake.

"Growing like a weed." Max wished he knew how to fix this. Honestly, Derrick needed to come home. Sometimes, Max thought he'd be a lot better on his own than Derrick ever would be.

"Got any plans for Halloween?" Derrick slightly smirked.

Max shook his head, no. He was staying in. Where is was safe. "I guess you'll be at Cedric's?"

"Yeah, his party will be EPIC." Derrick grinned as if that was all he had to live for.

  1. I dunno if I feel that sad for Derrick, but he shouldn't make Max feel so guilty, either,

  2. It's not Derrick's place to tell Max what to do. :/

  3. Derrick seems like he is up to something, but Max does seem grumpy.

  4. I'm sure it would be hard to know what to do with Daisy. Especially, if he felt he was making her unhappy.

  5. I do think Max is trying to reach out to him.

Derrick is so careless even if he probably thinks of himself as carefree.
