its been awhile

"OH MY GOD." Josie had to tell someone about the Zak Jacoby siting at her house. She was on her laptop with Haley. Somehow, they'd hit it off when Haley came to the states for her brother's wedding. And now, Josie had fun video chatting with her.

"Who is he?" Haley wanted to know immediately, giving Josie an intrigued look.

"Well.." How could she say this. "He's the first guy I ever kissed." It was hard to imagine, thinking of him as the most desirable creature on the planet, but there was a time when she did. Only, the boy next door wanted to keep it a big secret.

"Snogging? Is he any good?" Haley giggled.

"I thought so at the time." Josie rolled her eyes, thinking she knew better now. She hoped he wasn't planning to pick up where they left off. It might as well have been a century ago. After all, she loved Ian and nothing was going to break that. Not even, a blast from the past. "He moved away, you know. I hear nothing. It was like some sort of daydream now."

"Are you going to talk to him?" Haley thought she should hear him out. Maybe he'd changed.

"I don't want to." There she'd said it, even if old feelings might be bubbling to the surface. She didn't want to have any feelings for this guy. "So, how's everything..back home?"

"Boring." Hayley assured her. "Dad's being a pain, as usual."

"What about Jonah?" Josie wanted to know. Haley usually had some sort of adventure about their outings.

"Very formal." She rolled her eyes. "But I might change that." She smirked.

"Really? He's family, isn't he? You, sure its a good idea?" Josie winced. After all, her brother Jules was married to Jonah's sister.

"Its a fab idea." Haley sounded as if it was in the works in her head, already. "Brilliant, in fact."

"What are you talking about?" Josie wanted to know.

"Of course, he's put off with Gilly and Fiona's nuptials. I have to be there to keep him on track, you know. And I'm talking him in to a trip to France. Just the two of us. I think he wants to get away."

France sounded so lovely. Josie wished she was there.

"You, coming to see me this summer? Right?" Haley reminded her they could go to France, if she were there. Josie liked the sound of the future.

At least she didn't have Dylan to dwell on. Even so, she missed him terribly. No matter how much talk they could stir up with boys and travel, there was Dylan in the back of her mind. She felt so guilty if she didn't think about him.

  1. Nothing like a blast from the past. Yet, I don't think Zak would ever have an affect on her like Dylan.

    GREAT line.

Maybe she doesn't need him like she thinks she does.
