my chance has come at last

"Well, Ruben is still here," Olivia said a few days later. He used up all the hot water when he took a shower. That never happened before. Olivia came back chilled and wanted to crawl under the flannel sheets to warm up. Her teeth were starting to chatter. Naturally, Luc was still in a bed. He never budged until the very last minute.

It was funny how he could flutter around when he wanted to get to work on time. Other wise, he could be a lazy bum. Naturally, he kept her warm. She was at least in her sleep pants and tank, while he was only in his boxers.

"I hope I don't make everyone miserable," Olivia mumbled as she wrapped herself around Luc.

"What are you talking about?" He chuckled.

"Its like when Ruben takes an inch, he takes a mile." She sighed as she rested next to him. "Does he know what a jerk he is? I can't believe Dorian would even like him."

"He doesn't. Not really. Perhaps Ruben is a bonified bum. I doubt he's ever had to pay for anything." Luc told her as he pushed her wet hair away from her face.

She tried not to think of Ruben. But he was pretty much an unwanted guest, taking up space on the couch. Olivia stared at the ceiling then, wondering if he'd be gone by the end of February. Then when she thought of February, something else came to mind.

"OH MY GOD." She set up. It was the first she'd even thought of it. "I'm late."

"Its not that late." He looked at the clock. It wasn't even seven yet.

"No, not that. I'm late." She looked at him.

"For what?" He looked at her as if he wasn't good at guessing games.

She looked back at him with a wince.

"Huh?" Luc looked at her funny, propping his pillow up as if they needed to think about this. As if something needed to be thoroughly investigated before they decided anything.

Thankfully, he didn't talk about what they did and did not do the past few weeks.

"I'll bring a test home." He shrugged as if it wasn't that big of a deal.

She nodded.

He hugged her and kissed her on the cheek with a smile, as if they had nothing to worry about.
