it might have been
Maybe he just wasn't going to come. It was on Fish's mind that night. As it was they were in a bit of lull. Not really playing their best, yet trying to find the melody with in them to go on..in Zac's basement.
Fish still hated the fact that he'd worried about Derrick this much. He really hadn't meant to. But this sad feeling was growing on him, and he kind of liked it.
And then Derrick showed up. He looked more pale than usual. Even a little more skinnier than usual. Fish looked at him with a furrowed brow, wondering if something bad happened.
"No, no..just the flu." He sounded as if it were no big deal.
"Maybe, we should just give you a break tonight." Fish spoke up. It was getting late.
"Maybe, we should think about doing some new stuff." Derrick suggested instead. Zac didn't look too happy about it.
Fish shrugged. Syreeta was already to go. There was a little homework yet to get to.
He'd just wanted to stay behind and get to the bottom about ..everything. Maybe.
"I'm sorry..I texted..so much." Fish finally gave in an apology to him. Derrick was there. He needed to know this. Fish hoped that wasn't weird.
"You've, got nothing to be sorry for." Derrick's smile was genuine. Derrick gave Fish a warm slap on the shoulder.
He could even sense it now. Fish didn't want to think about it. Even if it was a good feeling. He should not have been thinking of anything good. Especially, after he heard the news on the TV when he got home. There was an accident.
A drunk driver collided with a car in the fog that night. One was dead and the other in critical condition.
