Luc wasn't sure what bothered him the most. Being nagged by his Dad for not coming around, or hearing what his mother might have to say about not calling every Sunday night like she wanted him too.
But here they were. He and Olivia. They'd made the date with his parents and hopefully, she'd had some time to think on this new situation of theirs, a baby on the way.
"I already told..one person." She finally confessed on the drive over.
"Who? Like your Dad?" He wouldn't hold it against her, even if they'd make a pact they'd do this together.
"No, an ex-boyfriend." She barely said above a whisper.
"I should have said something about it, I know." She looked at him as if she would never keep anything from him, again. "It was just..remember who Ryan was going to marry?"
"Um, not really." Luc tried not to get distracted. That's when she told him that Ryan left Roger.
Luc didn't have time to dwell on the whole Ryan and Roger thing. He wished Ryan hadn't bailed. But he guessed understood. He thought Ryan was Olivia's friend, and she hadn't even told her she'd left town, but Ryan might be a guy by now. Just what Luc needed to have on his mind when he got to his parents.
It felt more like a party somehow, though. Luc wasn't expecting Kayla, but Olivia knew Oliver and it was a pleasant surprise.
Aidan looked happy. He wasn't so sure about Audrey. Kayla look distracted, too.
"OK, we..we do have news." Luc guessed he'd spill now, instead of later. "I'm..I'm moving in with Olivia."
"I thought you two were already together?" Audrey winced as if there had to be more of the story.
"Yeah, yeah, sort of." He didn't know if her coming over on most weekends and holidays to Topher's counted. "But its official now."
"Are you getting married?" His mom smiled all over.
"Well..." It was kind of a sticky subject. Luc smiled as he put his arm around Olivia.
"We're having a baby." Olivia gritted a grin as if maybe they should have said that first.
That was all they needed. He knew his mother and dad were thrilled. He supposed they'd have to find time for Friday night dinner with his parents now.
"We could make it Sunday brunch." His mother sighed. "Wouldn't that be fun?" She looked at Audrey and Aidan who nodded.
"What about us?" Kayla looked at them. Suddenly it was silent.
"But you, sleep in on Sunday." Oliver mentioned who was holding the baby.
She looked at him as if he wasn't suppose to mention it.
Olivia wanted to hold the baby. Oliver talked about how much Avery had grown. She was sitting up now, and rather active. Even crawling.
Luc stared at the baby that Olivia was holding.
"Maybe, we can babysit some time." Olivia offered.
"Really?" Luc didn't mean to sound weird. They'd helped out with Topher and Ricki's baby, but this baby was some stranger's baby, at least to him. "Yeah, just let us know when."
He was getting a bit timid. He was ready to eat, but he knew what his mother was up too.
"Lets look at Luc's baby pictures." She went to get them.
Luc pressed a smile. It was going to be a long evening. Naked baby butt pictures and all. Olivia smiled up at him as if it would be a treat.
