What about Max
It was an accident that Daisy got mixed up in all of Max's stuff. Possibly, it was her lucky day, or not. She now thought. But she was at the grocery store. Alone. Max was working on lowering the prices of marshmallows, minding his own business.
He looked different somehow. She couldn't exactly explain it. Possibly, it was because she saw him alone, without Sara, and she felt as if she could actually talk to him.
She asked about his summer. He said, "Fine." He didn't even ask about hers. But when she looked into his eyes, she just wanted to give him a hug.
Maybe that's when they made up. Instantly. No, she didn't actually, hug him, but she knew something was wrong. Next thing she realized she was sitting across from him at the diner where no one went to anymore because of the mega grocery store.
He told her all about his Dad.
"Does Asa know?" She thought Max told him everything.
He shook his, no. The way his dark hair fell in his face made her want to touch it. Sweep it back. She hated seeing him like this.
The more she listened she thought what they might do.
"Look, I have off the next day or so." She asked if he had any time off.
"Just the middle of the week." He shrugged.
"Then, lets go to Vegas. You. need to see your Dad." Suddenly, Daisy couldn't think of anything else going on her life, except being there for Max.
He looked at her as if she couldn't be serious.
"Perhaps, we better not tell anybody." She was serious. She'd never been more serious about anything in her life.
