lets get excited

Olivia and Luc

Olivia didn't mean to spoil anything for Luc's mother, but she was here, ever so unexpectedly.

"Luc's not here." Olivia wiped her hands on her apron. She'd been trying her hand a pie dough. It was just the right temperature for apple pie. Well, at least this morning, she thought when she was outside. It felt like fall was really here to stay. Maybe.

"That's quite all right." She was all smiles. Kissed her on both cheeks and handed over some paperwork.

"What's this?" Olivia looked at the form.

"I was at this website. They have lots of different weddings there. You can even get married on a pirate ship." She smiled so. Olivia almost laugh at the thought of Luc wearing a patch over one eye and trying to speak in a Pirate lingo during the exchange of their vows.

"Oh. I see." She looked it over. His mom even scribbled in her credit card number on the form.

"You know, we already have the marriage license." It wasn't like they were procrastinating. "And we..we thought we should go to the courthouse. Make it official. Like, next month."

"Really?" Now his mother was so excited. Olivia saw her do little dance of excitement.

Olivia bit her bottom lip.

"But you, could still have a wedding. After the baby is born. You know, celebrate with your friends." She still wanted her to take a look at the berry farm. "You and Luc could have a look this weekend. You know, pick some apples."

"OK." Olivia grinned. Luc was nothing like his Mom. She wanted to things done. Like yesterday.

Olivia went to make tea. His mother wanted to know all about when they'd be going to the courthouse. She had a feeling his Mom would want an impromptu celebration just for that.

  1. At least she's being kind; though I can see Olivia's hesitation. :/

  2. It is funny how couples can be about the thought of marriage and what not..especially, when they think a certain parent might take over the whole thing.
