owner of a lonely heart

a little lonely heart #2

Syreeta didn't know how she exactly made it home from Holden's.

Luna almost caught them. Syreeta hid behind Holden's bed when Luna came to his man cave and asked him what he'd been up too.

It wasn't until then that she realize how open the basement was. He didn't even have a door to his room.

Actually, it was the realization that she could do things like this with someone she barely knew. What sort of person was she? Syreeta was good. She didn't break rules. She was a nice person.

Still, at the same time it was exhilarating and fun. When Sawyer called her, she didn't know what to say.

"Didn't you get my text?" He asked as if she needed to tell him if something was wrong.

"Oh." She'd shut off her cell, earlier. "Probably my battery." She found herself in a lie. It came so natural that it was a bit puzzling. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" He wanted to know.

Suddenly, she felt she needed to throw herself into anything she could with Sawyer. Anything, to keep her from falling into some sort of quicksand with Holden.

But there was a part of him she wanted to know. For the first time, she felt this kind of darkness as enticing. And she knew she better run from it while she still could.
