Little Birds Carrying News

"Your brother Carson really seems to be such a nice guy," Ren said as she was trying to get a new infant to go to sleep in her arms while Gage was at the family computer, trying to get into his e-mail. That is if he could remember his password.

"I guess." Gage remained indifferent. He didn't want to get attached. What was the point?

"He wants me to go to dinner with him at this..aunt's house." Gage wished Ren would go away and leave him alone as he was trying to think. Hopefully, Halie e-mailed him. He didn't want to give up on her, but could he get all hot and bothered with just an e-mail?

Valentines day kind of sucked. Although, he'd spent most of it with Ren. He felt bad that her husband didn't come in for the weekend. Come to think of it, he hadn't seen him since he'd gotten here. And she was aloof when it came to the husband topic. Anyway, Gage didn't want to care one way or another. All he wanted was to hear from Halie.

He wasn't going to let it get to him that Vada showed up at the Valentines dance with a date and with the richest guy in school. He found it a bit nausea, but he definitely would not give her the time of day..ever again.

"You, have an Aunt who lives here?" Ren let the baby slumber on her shoulder. She smiled at Gage as if that was the best news yet.

He looked at her as if not to get too excited. He wasn't going anywhere.

"Yeah, she's got this whole family. Apparently, I have cousins." He slightly scowled as if this black sheep didn't have time to even give them his presence.

"You, are going, aren't you?" Ren sounded as if this might be his most important date ever.

Just then Gage got in to his e-mail. He couldn't take his eyes off Halie's news. He wasn't sure to be ecstatic or devastated.
