Where do the good go

Where do the good go?

The moment Josie saw Henry's face, she knew. Evidently, things were better than ever with Henry and Leo. And she didn't need details. She was happy for him, and she needed to show him. Even though, it wasn't easy. In fact it was so hard, but she would try as she plastered a smile on her face, meeting him in the hall at school.

"So, your weekend was awesome, too?" He grinned like an idiot.

She hit him in the arm as if to knock some sense into him.

"Of course, it was." She was dead serious as she sighed a smile, hoping it would be fake. "Best Prom ever."

"Your feet really weren't hurting, were they?" He thought to ask.

"No, not at all." She shook her head as she kept on gritting a smile.

"Where's Dean?" Henry squinted.

"I think he went down to the recruiter. Last minute stuff, you know." Josie could barely manage to speak. She hated the thought that he'd be gone in a couple of weeks. And she didn't know if she could bare to think of what he'd said that night when he walked her to the door.

They were officially no more as she remembered so vividly now.

"You know, I have too." Dean had winced as if she needed to take this serious. "I can't just, you know, keep you waiting, hanging.." Dean sounded as if he didn't even know what he was saying.

Josie remembered the look on his face even now. Why did people keep on doing this to her?

She'd stayed in her room the rest of the weekend, writing down thoughts and notes and everything else she could think of. Actually, she'd called Ian in the middle of the night and caught him off guard about the subject. He'd actually talked to her. Not so much about her, but about Oliver and Kayla.

She supposed he was right. She should have been thinking of what was going on with other people. Not just her.

Still, even now she felt a little shaky. She didn't like this with Dean, even if he promised they'd always be friends.

A lump lodged in her throat. She thought maybe her hearing was gone as she stayed close to Henry listening to his happy thoughts. How he'd actually finished a pair a of pants.

"These aren't sleep pants, either. But with zippers and buttons. And Leo looks fantastic in them." He could hardly wait to start on the jacket. "It'll have pockets. Tons of pockets. Leo loves pockets."

Josie smiled with a nod.

  1. I think Josie should listen and as awful as it will be.. cut him off for a little while. She needs to protect her heart... I didn't protect my heart when my best friend broke it, I believed him when he said we'd always be friends... that was only until he met a jealous woman who did everything she could to put a wedge between us... he let her. In hindsight, no matter how much I loved him,I'd let him go...

    1. It does take time to get a perspective on breaking up. It does hurt. Hopefully, we learn from it. Learn about ourselves, and LOVE.

  2. I think Josie has grown up a lot. I don't think she'd do anything rash. Still, I hope some time later she will tell Henry everything because I think he would want her too.
