A bit of comfort

a bit of comfort

Jules couldn't help but squint. When he listened to Josie, immediately, he thought of Halie losing her baby at the grocery store. Even then it was as if she'd lots a babydoll of some sort. He'd thought the whole thing fake for sometime now.

But as usual his mum brought him back to reality when he called her about the matter.

"Is Halie OK?" Jules wanted to know.

"Oh, she's fit." Their mum sounded as if it was all well.

"And the baby?" Jules asked.

"Any day now." Her voice was full of laughter. Jules couldn't think of anything fowl going on. He didn't want to upset the universe with one little sad question.

"I just didn't know what..she'd want? You know, for the baby." Jules did his best to smile thinking his sister could care less about what to get the baby, only something for herself.

"There's time. We have the room ready." She sounded as if he didn't need to bother.

"Mum?" Jules was about to say, "You, aren't gonna raise it, are you?" But he knew she would. No way around that. He hoped Halie learned her lesson with all this. "Mum, its good to hear from you. I'll talk to you soon."

"Halie hasn't had the baby yet." Jules told them when he got off the phone.
