Picture this

Garvin felt a little foolish, but he was here with the last of the photos for Rossie. After all, he wanted to do a nice thing. Drop them off at her work instead of waiting for someone in the family to pick them up. Granted, he could have mailed them, but it would be quicker and well..cheaper..to just drop them off.

Of course, there were lots of teens around. Some happier than others. He looked behind him, hoping none would follow him out. He was definitely not as tough as Rossie who settled a fight that Garvin didn't even see coming.

He looked at her blankly, wondering if he should even be here at the reception desk.

"So, just wanted to drop these off." He had another envelope. It was a picture of the blond girl he'd met at the wedding. "Uh..could..could you give..this to your...friend Maggie?" Suddenly, he felt so timid as if he was way out of his league. He liked it better on his little hometown street. As it was, his shop was only a block away from the police station.

"Why don't you give it to her, yourself." She pointed to her glassed in cubical. "I'm sure she wouldn't mind seeing a grownup." Rossie then thanked him for the photos. "Go on in, I'll bring you two some coffee."

Well, he couldn't say no to that. Of course, Maggie didn't see him coming. She was typing away at her computer.

He knocked on the metal doorway.

She looked up and he smiled.

"Oh." She did have a sweet face. He imagined her a bit of a Jane Austin character. There was a comfy chair he could sit in that was by her desk. She asked him to sit. "This is..definitely, a surprise."

"Well, I do have your photo." He looked over to see her family photos. He was expecting to see her with a husband. He winced. Was that Leo?

He handed the envelope over so she could take a look.

"Mother says I never take a descent photo." She told him. She took a quick look as if she really didn't want to know, but seemed happily surprised. "Maybe, she'll change her mind now." She smiled ever so brightly.

Rossie brought two mugs of coffee  with cream.

"Hope you don't mind," Rossie said. "I know Maggie only likes cream."

"Oh, its fine."  Garvin smiled. "I only like cream too."

"At least, its one thing I can actually have." She told him.

"Really?"

"Oh, I don't want to bore you." She told him.

"Diabetic?" Garvin asked.

"Not quite, but I found out it was sugar that was causing all my stomach problems. One of the reasons why I'm not doing missionary work, anymore. I'm allergic to sugar."

Well, it was news to Garvin that she'd been a missionary. "So..you're Leo's sister?"

"You know, my brother?" She thought that was funny. Maybe it was. He laughed too. Oh, it was a good first date, even if he guessed it wasn't, but he wanted to ask her out.
