A little more talk

It sounded vaguely like a Katy Perry song, but very folksy.

Halie sneaked a peek at the video on Josie's phone.

"That Sky?" She'd seen pictures of him.

"Yeah..and his new girlfriend." Josie's frown was small, but Halie could tell it bothered Josie.

"Do you wish you'd..you know..worked things out?"

"I dunno." Josie yelped as if she didn't have a real answer. "I wanted it to be different..with him. I did. But I think he was only looking out for me because Dean asked him too. And... what kind of..LOVE is that?" She squinted and she stopped the video and  put her iPhone away. "I can just hear him now..oh, she was like a little sister I never had..."

Halie had to chuckle at that, but she could tell Josie didn't think it funny.

"So..what's really going on?" They didn't even make it to the disco. Josie wanted to go home after twenty minutes at the pub. She didn't like the way people were staring at her.

"Nothing." She squinted.

"Well, you got a call from Henry, what did he do?"

"He's just being a pest."

"A pest?" Halie winced then, thinking who uses the word pest.

"Its nothing." She shook her head.

"You're being kind of..aloof..you know." Halie glared at her wanting a real answer.

"Aloof?" Josie was in a pout.

"Look, you are going to feel so much better if you tell someone..what's going on." Halie was sure of it. She was going to make tea. "You, don't have to tell me, but you need to talk to someone."

1. where did we meet?
SKY: Actually, at the library. She was the new clerk. I was the old clerk. We worked together for almost a week.
SAM: He taught me everything I needed to know about customer service. He used to be a shelver.

2. what was our first date?
SKY: I dunno if we've had a real first date. (Sky smiles as if he's not certain how to explain this.) I mean, we hang out. A lot.
SAM: And..then..I moved in. (She smiles as if she's happy with the outcome and a first date wasn't all that important). I mean, I knew..I really wanted to get to know him. He's you know, hug-able..and then some.

3. where was our first kiss and how was it?
SKY: I think it was at the boarding house.
SAM: Under the stars. (Sam clarifies, perhaps a little giddy, but all smiles)

4. did u know that i was the one
SKY: Uh, well..(He winces) yeah..I think I did. I'd seen you really upset. You know, remember the time..when you were all alone in your car..and.... in tears? ( Sky looks at Sam who looks as if he wishes he hadn't brought that up. He sighs) I mean, not that I try to be anyone's Knight and Shining ..whatever..I really..felt she needed me. Or..maybe I needed her. But she's such sweet person. (He holds her hand. His fingers intertwined with hers as if they are a rock of a relationship) And I really feel..I can tell her anything. And I have.
SAM: Yeah, I know about his Dad and his Mom and even Josie. He told me all about Josie. And I think we can talk about our fears and you know, what makes us happy too.

5. first impression?
SKY: I think I've already touched on that. But yeah, Sam's smart. I'm glad she's in college. She makes me feel good about me. And well, she's the only person who's actually got me to sing.
SAM: (Sam grins more). He's  so talented. And I really enjoy us doing the music together. I mean, I'm not looking to be a celebrity or anything. I'm just glad we could help out the library. I dunno. Its just fun. And..and I think the music brings us closer together.(Sky nods in agreement)

6. when did u meet the family
SKY: I haven't actually met them yet. Her mom got remarried and lives in Florida. Her Dad's a truckdriver. Always on the road. (Sky shrugs)
SAM: But I've met his family. (She smiles) I really like his..his grandfather and his wife. Well, I hope his grandfather likes me. Its kind of hard to tell, buy his wife..well, she's really been good to both of us and well, I want to be a part of their family.
