Positively, not gonna

Positively, not gonna

Alo couldn't remember the last time he saw his cousin Bear. Naturally, that smile of his was endearing as ever. And it was good to see him happy. He'd always been a happy person.

"You'll always be a kiddie, you know." Alo couldn't help to want to fuss with his hair, like he'd done when he was kid. After all, he'd been like a baby brother to him until Alo started going to a private school and Bear went to everyday school.

Alo couldn't help but envy Bear, a little. Alo should have stayed here so they could have been best mates, but that was something he couldn't have changed. His father would have never heard of it. It was his way of parenting, after all.

Still, Alo hadn't turned into Lars, but he'd missed out on knowing everyone in the village, where folks who were happy to see him like Bear.

They went on their merry way, hanging out at the local places, having a lager, and of course, steak.

But he could see Vada was lagging behind. All so serious and maybe even anxious.

"What is it, this time?" Alo winced.

"Josie, cut her hand."

"How bad?"

"Its fine." She sighed.

"Are you sure?"

"Its just, she called to tell me something..and I..I guess its nothing." She swelled a pout that he knew meant something was up, but he wasn't going to let it get to him. After all, there was a tune of a fiddle and some old songs of reminiscence at the old place he barely remembered as a kid, but now he had someone to dance with, and that was what they were going to do.

"Just don't worry." He didn't want to say it was nothing, but it probably was.

Bear was already in the mix. Alo smiled when she noticed his mum was there. She was dancing too. Not quite a jig, but awful close. What was happening here?

He wasn't going to prod. He held Vada. Finally, she let him take her away from all the madness, back home. Even if it were only for a little while.
